"Oshchadbank" State Savings Bank of Ukraine

Ukrainian Bank, the second largest in terms of asset and the largest in term of number of branches among all Ukrainian banks. It is state-owned. As of January 1, 2018, the bank's net assets amounted to UAH 234 billion. As of 2019, Oschadbank's national banking network includes about 2,640 branches, almost 3,150 ATMs and 3,200 payment terminals. More than 45,000 commercial POS-terminals are connected to the bank's processing.

Oshchadbank

In 1991, Ukraine seceded from the Soviet Union and declared its independence. With the declaration of independence of Ukraine, the Oschadbank is separated from the “Sberbank” of the USSR. On December 31, 1991, Oschadbank was registered with the National Bank of Ukraine as an independent banking institution - the State Specialized Commercial Savings Bank of Ukraine. It was formed on the basis of the institutions of the “Oschadbank” of the former USSR in Ukraine, whose predecessor was the State Labor Savings Bank of the USSR.

By the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of May 21, 1999, pursuant to the order of the President of Ukraine of May 20, 1999, the State Specialized Commercial Savings Bank of Ukraine was transformed into the Open Joint-Stock Company State Savings Bank of Ukraine (abbreviated as Oschadbank). Pursuant to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated April 6, 2011 № 502 “On Amendments to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of February 25, 2003 № 261 dated June 7, 2011” the state registration of amendments to the Charter of Oschadbank OJSC was carried out. In accordance with paragraph 4 of the Charter of JSC "Oschadbank" full name of the bank: Public Joint Stock Company "State Savings Bank of Ukraine", abbreviated - JSC "Oschadbank". License of the National Bank of Ukraine № 148 dated October 5, 2011 for the right to conduct banking operations. The founder of the bank is the state represented by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

PJSC “State Savings Bank of Ukraine” versus The Russian Federation

An arbitration against the Russian Federation referring to the fact of expropriation the bank's assets in Crimea. On 26 November 2018, the Permanent Court of Arbitration granted its award in the case Oschadbank v. the Russian Federation. In its award, the Tribunal stated that it had the jurisdiction to consider the dispute and found that the Russian Federation had illegally expropriated Oschadbank's assets in Crimea, violating its rights as an investor, and awarded the compensation in the amount of USD 1.3 billion plus interest, which shall be accrued until the execution of the award. The award is final.
